24/7 Stroke Thrombolysis project using St Vincent’s Healthcare Consulting’s IOCOM solution wins “Best use of Telehealth and Telecare” Award. The East of England Strategic Health Authority has been awarded “best use of Telehealth and Telecare” for their new telemedicine service for stroke thrombolysis, which uses IOCOM software, running on the NHS networks, to enable stroke specialists to see patients via a High Definition video link. IOCOM software displays H.264 High Definition images on a laptop, which are detailed enough for a doctor to view a patient’s MRI scans remotely.
The system was trialled in Cambridge, Watford and Southend and began to save patients’ lives during its pilot stage.
Representatives from the Strategic Health Authority accepted the award following a champagne reception in the Connaught Rooms in Central London.
EHI’s awards are given by e-Health Insider to recognise and reward excellence in Healthcare IT.
